The first minute: grow safely
1. Stay away from the crowd
When you are small, the busiest part of the map is the most dangerous. Graze on the food around the edges of the action until you have some length.
2. Follow the leftovers
When a big snake crashes, it leaves a long trail of food behind. Head toward the fights, wait for them to end, then collect what is left. It is the fastest way to grow.
3. Keep your head moving in smooth curves
Sharp, sudden turns are where most early crashes happen. Smooth curves give you time to see what is ahead and react.
Going on the attack
4. Cut in front, never crash head-on
The basic attack is simple: get your body in front of another snake's head so that it runs into you. Never aim your own head at another snake's body. That is how you lose.
5. Circle smaller snakes
Once you are long, you can wrap your body around a smaller snake. As the circle gets tighter it has nowhere to go. Keep the circle closed and wait.
6. Use speed carefully
In many snake .io games you can speed up for a moment at the cost of some length. Save it for the moment you need it: to cut off an opponent or to escape a trap. Using it all the time just makes you smaller.

Staying alive when you are big
7. Watch the snakes beside you, not only in front
Big snakes usually die because a small one cuts across their head. Keep an eye on fast little snakes running alongside you.
8. Leave yourself an exit
Never let your own body or other snakes close you into a space with no way out. Always know where your escape route is.
9. Know your mode
Different modes reward different play. In a classic arena you can take your time; in a timed mode you need to grow fast before the clock runs out; in a last-snake-standing battle, surviving matters more than size. 10. Don't chase every kill
Greed ends more runs than anything else. If a chase drags you into a crowded area, let it go and come back to safer food.
